☝️We have some words of advice from Brighton Fringe performer Amelia Whitrod!
“In 2024 I took my solo Spoken Word/Poetry show, Show up in Sequins - or Don’t, to the Brighton Fringe, where I had two performance dates. I was lucky enough to be awarded a bursary from Encore Insure, an insurance company created specifically for performers and creatives, who’s bursary offered to cover the registration fee for the Fringe.
In my application, I opened up about the themes my poems are routed in, what kind of stories I am telling, and spoke about my first collection of poems that I am working on. When applying for one of the many Bursaries the Brighton Fringe has to offer, be yourself, let them know what makes you and your piece ‘you’, and consider how you hope that piece will connect with your audience.
Wishing you have a fun, creative, successful Fringe 2025,
Amelia Whitrod - Unchained Theatre”
Also, if you haven’t yet, you should download our guide to feminist shows at Brighton fringe here!
That’s everything for this month! Have a lovely bank holiday weekend everyone! ☀️💗
Lots of love,
