Something we spoke about on my business course last year was stepping into the successful versions of ourselves. Instead of waiting to do the things that we think we’ll do once we’re successful, just do them now.
The main thing for me is correcting people when they pronounce my name wrong. I really got into the habit of not correcting people if I think they won’t be in my life for a long time, but to be building my career and reputation, that’s actually really important.
When I was 21, I had this bill-paying job, and everyone would think I was called “Es-May”, and I literally just couldn’t be bothered to correct them, so I let it go on. I was only there for a few months, but! Ended up dating my boss, and on our first date I had to break the news that he didn’t actually know what my name was.
Anyways, I just booked a (hopefully) regular freelance gig, and I corrected two people and told them that my name is actually pronounced “Es-Me”. I’m super proud of myself. I definitely find it super awkward, but it’s so important.
Everything at the moment feels like it’s falling into place, and my intentions, plans, and goals are paying off. Technically I’m already successful, especially by the bar of success I’ve set myself when I was younger. If I don’t move the bar, then I definitely need to start living as successful Esme.
What else would successful Esme do? Drink pink natural coffee every morning. Once I’m rich enough, then I will step into that suit of successful me.
Big love, Esme xx
